History of Springdell Utah
Springdell Utah Homes and Cabins
Springdell UT History
In the late 1800's after school let out each spring, several families camped 4 miles up Provo Canyon near a fresh-water spring. At first, they camped in tents and tent-houses but eventually (in 1904,) several of these families incorporated and bought a section of land for $7,500. The area came to be known as Springdell.
Several of the families built summer cabins and even year-round homes in their new development. Today, several homes in Springdell are still owned by ancestors of those original stock-holders.
In the early 1900’s, Provo townspeople would stop at Springdell’s spring to water their horses as they went for buggy rides. These same springs are used as household water for the residents and to fill the man-made pond used by residents for recreation.
